“It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver.” – Mahatma Gandhi
Everyone agrees that fitness is good. It boosts your health, improves your physique, brightens your mood, calms your mind, and allows you to do more with your life. It’s one of those things that we know is good for us, but still, not everyone choses to benefit from it.
Being connected to the world of entrepreneurship, you’re probably familiar with an irregular schedule, long days of work, and sleepless nights – we’ve all been there. This is a common reason why many people, while trying to get ahead of the competition, choose not to invest time in themselves – more specifically, in exercising on a daily basis.
I was the same. Being a sporty guy pretty much all my life, once I got into business I felt like I had to focus all my energy towards my goals and less on my health and appearance. Fortunately, not long after I begun to neglect my fitness life, I also started to get more and more into health and ways to optimize the body and mind.
Surprise. After spending months in researching different ways to optimize human potential and increasing productivity, I’ve found that one of the most efficient ways to do it is through exercise. Daily exercise.
Now let’s see the 7 ways daily exercise will change your life:
- Uplifts the mood
You can’t be at the top of your game if you’re not in the right mood. Exercising is a great way to improve the mood and get the positive feelings flowing. The only reason I never gave up exercise was because every time I got out of the gym I was “in the zone”.
- Improves brain functions
Trying to get ahead of the competition? Enhance your brain! Exercise increases blood flow and oxygen levels in the brain, and it encourages the release of the brain chemicals that are responsible for the production of cells in the part of the brain that controls memory and learning. This means you will boost your concentration levels and cognitive ability. Another benefit is that it helps reduce the risk of cognitive degenerative diseases.
- Increases energy levels
Most of us drink coffee to get that extra boost of energy throughout the day, but not everyone knows that one of the best ways to energize is by exercising. 20 minutes of jogging or a good workout will not only boost your energy levels and you’ll be able to thrive all day, but it will also strengthen your muscles and improve physical performance.
- Promotes longer life
Once we reach our goals to live the perfect life, we all want to make it last forever. Several studies shown that by simply exercising on a daily you can increase your lifespan by a long-shot.
- Enhances the immune system
Sometimes even a cold can get you out of the loop for days. No one wants that. Exercise improves your body’s ability to pump the oxygen and nutrients around your body that are required to fuel the cells that fight bacteria and viruses.
- Controls weight
Thinking that you should drop a few pounds? Exercise will make your burn calories and therefore, cut some weight and also help prevent excess weight gain. The more intense the activity, the more calories you’ll burn. Don’t think that you need to set aside large chunks of time for exercise in order to reap weight-loss benefits. If you can’t do a full workout, get more active throughout the day in simple ways — by taking the stairs instead of the elevator or taking the bike instead of the car.
- Support better sleep
If you find yourself struggling to fall asleep or to stay asleep, regular physical activity will help you sleep faster and deeper. Quick tip: try not to exercise too close to bedtime, as you may be too energized to fall asleep.
Being active is one of the best things you can do to your mind and body in order to feel good, stay healthy, and be at the top of your game. Even 10 minutes of walking per day can bring invaluable benefits on the long run so put your sneakers on and get moving!
